Midwifery and Gynecology Nurses
Midwifery is a separate profession from nursing, although there is a shortened training route for registered adult nurses. A midwife is usually the first and main contact for the woman during her pregnancy, throughout a phase of antenatal care, during labor and birth, and for up to 28 days after the baby has been born. According to the recent survey, the Midwifes and Nurses are not enough to the need. The sharp fall coincided with a sudden increase in qualified European medics leaving the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) from 2,435 in 2015-16 to 4,067 in the last year – a rise of 67%.
